Fortnite’s November 1 update is a big one. Version 43.00 kicks off the new Treasure Hunters season, replacing the previous Battle Royale island with Crossbones Isle and bringing One Piece characters into the middle of the action. There’s a new Battle Pass, fresh weapons, more Sprites to collect, and a rotating cast of captains arriving throughout November.
Epic Games has also released a substantial update for Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), including tools that make building large custom environments considerably easier.
There’s plenty to get through, so here’s what changed and what players can expect over the coming weeks.
Treasure Hunters Brings a New Battle Royale Island
The biggest addition in Fortnite v43.00 is Crossbones Isle, a pirate-themed Battle Royale map designed for 80-player matches.
It’s more than a change of scenery. The island includes locations inspired by One Piece, including Arlong Park and Windmill Village, alongside original areas built around the season’s treasure-hunting theme.
Cannons scattered around the island allow players to launch themselves across the map, offering another way to travel or make a quick escape when a fight isn’t going their way.
One of the more unusual locations is The .. Rocky, a battleship associated with rapper A$AP Rocky. Players can encounter him as a boss and fight for access to his Shock Rocket weapon.
There’s also the mystery surrounding Captain X’s enormous treasure chest. Epic has teased its contents without revealing everything inside, giving players another reason to explore rather than repeatedly landing at their usual favorite spots.
I like the idea behind this season. A new map is always welcome, but giving it a proper adventure theme, recognizable locations, and things worth hunting for makes the change more interesting than simply rearranging a few buildings.
One Piece Powers Arrive in Fortnite
Fortnite’s collaboration with One Piece goes well beyond character outfits.
Players can use abilities inspired by the anime, including Luffy’s Gum-Gum Fruit and Zoro’s Three Sword Style. The update brings a different flavor to combat, mixing familiar Fortnite weapons with attacks drawn from the One Piece universe.
The new abilities should create some interesting encounters, particularly when players have to deal with opponents using powers that don’t behave like ordinary firearms.
The collaboration also extends to the Item Shop. Luffy, Nami, and Usopp arrived with the season launch, while more One Piece characters are scheduled to appear throughout November.
Zoro and Sanji are due on November 7, together with a Chopper Sidekick. Buggy follows on November 13.
For One Piece fans, there’s quite a lot here. For everyone else, the new abilities are probably the more interesting part. Whether they’ll be enjoyable to fight against is another matter entirely.
New Weapons, Sprites, and Loot Changes
The Treasure Hunters season also changes what players can find during a Battle Royale match.
Alongside the One Piece abilities, Epic has introduced themed equipment such as A$AP Rocky’s Shock Rocket. The loot pool also includes pirate-inspired weapons and items, giving the season a distinct identity.
Several familiar weapons return, including the Sentinel Pump Shotgun, Auto Shotgun, Flint-Knock Pistol, and Hammer Assault Rifle.
One notable change is the removal of Gold Bars from the current loot system. NPC follower services are now free, while standard Vending Machines have been removed. Pocket-O-Matics remain available in Zero Build, giving players another way to access equipment.
Chests also work differently this season. They can refill with loot over time, which means an already-opened chest isn’t necessarily empty for the rest of the match.
I can see that becoming particularly useful during longer matches, especially when players return to an area they’ve already explored. It also fits the season’s treasure-hunting theme rather nicely.
The update expands the selection of Sprites, the collectible companions introduced in earlier Fortnite updates.
New additions include Re-Pete, Chester, Wayfinder, and Lil’ Flacko, offering abilities connected to reloading, locating loot, and movement. The returning Sprite Mastery system also gives players rewards for collecting and leveling up their Sprites.
Special Captain’s Days will introduce more weapons, Sprites, and activities throughout November.
Personally, I’m more interested in seeing how the new weapons and returning favorites work together than in trying to collect everything immediately. A fresh loot pool can change the way matches play out, even when the core rules remain familiar.
Treasure Hunters Battle Pass and Upcoming Events
The new Battle Pass features Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin, two recognizable characters from One Piece, alongside alternative versions of existing Fortnite characters such as Jonesy, Cuddle Team Leader, and Charlotte.
Epic is also offering a bonus Dark Kawaii Team Leader Outfit style when a player gifts the Battle Pass to a friend.
Treasure Hunters isn’t releasing all its content at once, either.
Captain’s Days are scheduled for November 1, 8, 12, 15, and 22, bringing additional content as the season progresses. Players can also expect themed activities throughout the week, including Mastery Mondays and Treasure Hours Saturdays.
A$AP Rocky joined the Item Shop on November 5, while Lil Uzi Vert is scheduled for November 12. Cap’n Hatsune Miku arrives on November 14, with Kasane Teto getting her own Music Pass starting November 12.
Epic has also teased a major Chapter 7 end event for December 5, 2026.
That gives players a reason to keep checking back over the next few weeks rather than treating November 1 as the only important date.
Fortnite v43.00 Also Makes Big Changes to UEFN
Battle Royale might attract most of the attention, but version 43.00 is an important release for people who create their own Fortnite islands.
The standout addition is Procedural Content Generation (PCG) in Unreal Editor for Fortnite.
PCG allows creators to generate environments using rules and reusable tools instead of manually placing every tree, rock, building, or decorative object.
Imagine building a large forest. Rather than positioning hundreds of individual trees, a creator can set up a system that distributes environmental assets across the landscape. The result can still be adjusted, but much of the repetitive work is handled automatically.
That could be particularly useful for large adventure maps, open-world experiences, and custom environments with a lot of visual detail.
The update also brings the Progression API out of Experimental, allowing creators to publish islands with custom quest systems. These can include objectives, progress tracking, rewards, and quests displayed through Fortnite’s own interface.
Other additions include improved performance analysis tools, new options for cinematics and audio workflows, and experimental features for custom health and damage systems.
These changes won’t affect someone who only plays Battle Royale, but they’re worth paying attention to. Some of Fortnite’s most creative experiences come from the community, and better development tools give those creators more room to experiment.
Is Fortnite v43.00 Worth Checking Out?
For Battle Royale players, Treasure Hunters offers considerably more than a typical maintenance update. There’s a completely new island, unusual combat abilities, returning weapons, fresh collectibles, and a steady schedule of additional content.
The One Piece crossover is likely to be the biggest attraction, although the new map and changes to the loot pool should give even non-anime fans something to explore.
I’m particularly curious about how the pirate theme will hold up once the excitement of the first week settles down. The rotating captains and scheduled additions could help keep things interesting, provided the new items remain enjoyable to use.
Meanwhile, UEFN creators have received tools that could make a real difference to the types of islands they can build.
Fortnite v43.00 launched on November 1, 2026, and Treasure Hunters is now underway. More content is scheduled throughout November, leading up to the Chapter 7 end event on December 5.
